GCISD welcoming students displaced by Hurricane Katrina
In an effort to support the families and victims of the recent hurricane in Louisiana and Mississippi, GCISD is joining districts across the state in opening our doors for students who have been displaced from their homes and communities. Any student who is temporarily living in GCISD boundaries, either at residences or hotels, is eligible to attend the nearest GCISD campus.
“We want to help in whatever way we can in the wake of such a tragedy,” said John Allison, deputy superintendent. “We’re all opening our doors so that these students can continue receiving the quality of education they need and deserve. We hope this will be one less thing to worry about for these students and their families who have been through so much already.”
Families who wish to enroll a student should go to the campus in the assigned attendance zone. Additional details including transportation, free-and-reduced lunch options and immunizations will be available at the time of enrollment. For more information, contact Patti Davis at 817/251-5550.
