Trips to Krems and Munich amongst items for bid during
Vinter's Auction at 19th annual Grapefest
Bidders at the Vintner's Auction during the 19th Annual GrapeFest will have the opportunity to purchase a wide selection of rare items including a necklace, ring & earring set by award winning jeweler, Ziad H. Noshie. The set valued at $4,500 fittingly features a grape leaf and grape cluster design. Noshie was recently inducted into the Gemological Institute's Circle of Honor.
Other highly sought after items include round trip vacations to Krems, Austria and Munich, Germany, donated in part by Lufthansa Airlines. The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering a trip to the Gator Bowl worth more than $3,000. In addition, 43 wineries from around Texas have donated wine packages ranging from private tasting sessions to gourmet baskets.
Bidding at the live and silent live auction of rare and collectible wines, domestic and international travel packages, antiques, and works of art including custom glass begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 in the Lancaster Theatre (300 S. Main). Tickets to the auction are $25 each and include admission and dinner catered by PF Chang's China Bistro.
Festival hours are Sept. 8, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Sept. 9, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.; Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.; and Sept. 11, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. FREE gate admission from 11 a.m. on Thursday until 5 p.m. on Friday. Admission - Friday at 5 p.m. through Sunday at 6 p.m. is: Teenagers and Adults - $6; Seniors (62+) and Children (6-12) - $3; Children under 5 - Free; Weekend Pass - $10; Souvenir Pin - $15.
GrapeFest is the largest wine festival in the U.S. outside of the Napa and Sonoma region. GrapeFest is named as "One of the Top 100 Events in North America" by the American Bus Association, and is listed as a "Top 20 Wine Event in the Nation," in Wine Tasting and Touring magazine's Fall 2005 issue. Festival proceeds support the Grapevine Heritage Foundation.
